In Madu area of Hazaribagh district,Pati Mohan Mahto distributed sweets among his neighbours. The Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his father Shibu Soren had recommended the name of their party MLA Jai Prakash Bhai Patel, son of late Teklal,as Minister.

“He is young and will do good work for the people”,a coal worker hopes.

Patel is among six Ministers-five others being JMM’s Champai Soren,Haji Hussain Ansari,Simon Marandi,Congress’s Gita Shree Oraon and RJD’s Suresh Paswan-who were administered oath as Ministers by Governor Syed Ahmad inside the Raj Bhawan this morning.

This had taken the number of Ministers to nine leaving vacancy of three in the 12-Minister capacity State Cabinet.

Patel, who is Backward caste called Kurmi-Mahto,is also son in law of the JMM MLA and former Minister Mathura Mahto.Mathura together with the same party’s MLA Hemlal Murmu, who too was Minister in the Arjun Munda government, did not find berth in the Hemant government.

Both Mathura and Hemlal, who had opposed Hemant Soren in withdrawing support to the Arjun Munda government, were red faced. They were expected to be made members of the coordination committee headed by Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh.

Even within the Congress, there was no consensus among its top brass over selection of Ministers. In fact,it has to pick up three ministers. As and when they do it,the Hemant government will expand his Ministry.
