By expanding his Cabinet on Sunday, inducting six ministers-four from the JMM and one each from the Congress and the RJD and leaving three vacancies for the Congress to fill up,the coalition government led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren has ruffled more feathers than it has soothed.

Within the JMM,many of those MLAs prominently Hem Lal Murmu,Lobin Hembrom,Jagannath Mahto and Polus Surin.who were in the race to grab the post of Minister ,but failed to get it,appeared to be on the boil. Surin,in fact, has dared to convey to the party leaders “to be prepared to face the consequences.”Two other RJD MLAs –Janardhan Paswan and Sanjay Singh were reportedly ‘unhappy’ and ‘angry’not having given the post of Minister.

The Congress was not free from dissidence. With only three vacancies, more than half a dozen MLAs were vying with each other to become Minister. The Congress leader and Minister Rajendra Prasad Singh, who denies there was any feud or dissension in the party over ‘Ministership’,has said that the second expansion can take place on August 12.

Though they don’t seem to be any threat to the Hemant Soren government in the immediate context, they were expected to make the bickerings public after the Congress selects three MLAs for the post for Soren to undertake expansion of his cabinet again.
