Ahead of the Assembly election, Jharkhand government is using 'Fit India Movement' launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of National Sports Day which is celebrated across the country marking the birth anniversary of legendary Hockey Player Dhyanchand.

In Jharkhand, the state government led by Chief Minister Raghubar Das has promised to turn Fit India movement into a mass movement in the state. How?

Sports Minister of the State, Amar Kumar Bauri quickly used the occasion to carry forward the Fit India campaign. He too inaugurated it at Jaipal Singh AstroTurf Hockey Stadium in the State Capital, minutes after the address of the Prime Minister.

Also, Bauri handed over appointment letter to 19 coaches. In fact, they got permanent jobs to train budding players in the State. The Department plans to organize Mukhyamantri Football Tournaments followed by other tournaments in sports of Archery, Kabaddi and Hockey as well.

A publicity campaign was kick-started with Jharkhand Director of Sports Department Anil Kumar Singh urging citizens to stay fit by doing Yoga and morning walk every day.

Also, efforts were on to promote sports and make students adopt it as per their own interest and likeness."Every student should play some sport,” he added.

All Panchayat heads are being directed to mobilize men, women, and children to use sports as a way of life. Also, the state government-run school administration is going to be asked to organize sports activities on school premises so that the students could understand the importance of sports in their life.

Since sports like football, hockey and archery are popular among tribals, especially youth in this state, the government's sports move-Fit India Movement -is bound to yield positive results. In turn, this can help the ruling BJP gain and secure votes in the forthcoming Assembly elections before the end of 2019.
