Modi-styled kurtas are a big hit in Jharkhand. They are being made by non other than the state run agency, Jharcraft, in a bid to woo both candidates and voters ahead of Assembly elections.

The managing director of Jharcraft, Dhirendra Kumar, has said: “We are not branding them as ‘Modi kurtas’. We are making half-sleeved short kurtas because there is a huge demand for them.”

Jharcraft is ready with stocks of ‘Modi Kurtas’, bandis and regular pyjama kurtas as the demand for these are likely to increase during elections.

According to Mr. Kumar political leaders and party workers approach the agency for kurta pyjamas and bandis during elections. Keeping this in mind they keep a ready stock to meet their demand.

The store is offering wrinkle-free, cotton kurta pyjamas priced between Rs 800 – Rs 1000.

The silk kurtas will come for Rs 2,500. Bandis will cost somewhere between Rs 3,000 – Rs 5,000.

Candidates have also placed orders for kurta-pyjamas with Jharcraft for the elections.

Jharcraft is expecting an increase in sales now that the names of candidates have been announced.

The agency is also equipped to deliver stitched clothes within 24 hours to candidates who have placed special orders.
