A total of 2,846 rural citizens, especially from marginalized communities, have been provided with legal literacy training in three districts of Garhwa, Latehar and Palamu in Jharkhand. Legal literacy workshops were organised in these three districts on November 29, 2015, following community mobilization by the VLEs through door-to-door visits and Gram Sabha meetings. In Garhwa, 94 participants attended the session, Latehar (984) and Palamu (1,768),according to a report.

The report published by CSC News Letter,an E-Governance Services India Ltd,said:

“The Legal Literacy Programme has been undertaken by CSC SPV with the support of Department of Justice and UNDP. 50 CSCs were roped in to carry out the programme in Jharkhand. Master training was initially provided to the VLEs in a day-long workshop on November 26. The programme aimed at training the VLEs and rural citizens on aspects of rights and duties and empowering them to seek and demand justice.”
