He came,delivered speech and handed over awards to students of Shri Ram College of Commerce in New Delhi today giving a singular message to students-Narendra Modi is here to drive India in future.While Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who has led his state to a remarkable economic growth,spoke inside the jam packed hall of the SRCC,groups of students belonging to the Left held protest against him outside.

Unmindful of it,Modi invoked father of the nation -Mahatma Gandhi-and said “if India has to be part of the global growth, it must lay emphasis on Suraaj” (good governance).

He was delivering the first ‘Shri Ram Memorial Oration’,started b y SRCC.Starting his speech, Modi said he hailed from from the land of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, addding, Gujarat has always remained at the forefront of freedom movement.

He was accorded a standing ovation by students.”Gujarat has always remained one step ahead in this (good goverance). Ours model of development is pro-people, good governance,” he said adding that he had his own take on the issue of emerging business models in a global scenario.He said “we are yet to tap the huge demographic potential of the nation”.

Earlier, he was accorded a standing ovation inside the auditorium, even as Left-wing students were protesting outside, shouting “Modi go back”, opposing the Gujarat model of economic development.

“Despite hiccups, Gujarat has created history by registering 10 per cent growth,” Modi said, adding, the three pillars of growth – agriculture, industry and service sector – must enable each other.
