The Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) have disbursed total Rs1.15 lakh crore in the country, of which Rs617.55 crore has been disbursed in Jharkhand and Rs3365.9 crore in Gujarat as on December 31, 2015.

Jayant Sinha, minister of state for finance informed Rajya Sabha on March 1, 2016 in reply to a question from Parimal Nathwani.
The minister stated that there are two RRBs in Jharkhand: Jharkhand Gramin Bank and Vananchal Gramin Bank. The two banks disbursed total Rs.617.55 crore in the current financial year till December 31, 2015 and Rs.749.83 crore in FY 2014-15.

The minister stated that there are 56 RRBs functioning in the country, of which are two in Jharkhand and three in Gujarat. The 56 functioning RRBs have disbursed total Rs1.15 lakh crore till December 31, 2015, he said. The minister also added that in FY2014-15, the RRBs disbursed total Rs1.39 lakh crore to the villagers in the country.
Nathwani wanted to know about number of Regional Rural Banks functioning in the country along with the details about the review of their performance and loan disbursed by them in last three years.

The working of the RRBs is reviewed by the Government of India on a regular basis including half yearly and yearly reviews. During 2015-16, working of RRBs was reviewed in National Review Meet of RRBs, held on 11th July, 2015 and 21st January, 2016.
