Sunil Adhikari travelled to the Flower Shops at Main Road, near Albert Ekka Chowk in Ranchi to hear stories about flowers and Valentine’s Day.

The shops were buzzing with fresh flowers and people balancing bunches of flowers in all sorts of creative ways and vivid shades of red flying out of the doors.
Valentine’s Day sits alongside Mother’s Day as being one of the busiest days of the year for florists and flower growers.

As Dinkar Malakar, a florist from Ratu road,Ranchi Carlingford, explained:
“It’s definitely the busiest single day… It’s exciting, the feeling is pretty electric.. heaps of people running around and getting things organized,” said Malakar.

But these florists were apprehensive of two things. One,most schools had scheduled their exams on the Valentine’s Day.Two,the cops were likely to do the moral policing.’These may spoil our business”,fears Malakar.
