The rumour was responsible for the clash between two communities on May-17-18.Soon after gaining information, the police personnel were deployed.”It is condemnable that despite the police action, clash took place”, said Jharkhand Principal Secretary (Home)SKG .Rahate.

Rahete who addressed media persons together with DGP DK Pandey and ADJP(Operation) RK Malik and Sampat Meena in Ranchi on Monday, said that the rumour of child lifters was spread in Saraikela and Bagbera.Though the police had enquired into the background of this rumour,nothing concrete was recorded about its origin.In any case,since 6 persons were lynched in two separate incidents,18 persons were arrested.

”Also,interrogation is on about the Group Admin of the whatsapp”,said Rahete. He informed that Rs 2 lakh and Rs 50,000 was provided to the deceased and injured victims of the group clash on rumour about child lifters respectively.

He informed that the state Home Department and the police establishment had run campaign to check the rumour by coming up  advertisements in local newspapers,TV channels,Whatsapp Group.

DGP DK Pandey said that the ADGP(CID) had carried out an enquiry to find the root of the child-lifter-rumour. But nothing appropriate was found.Neither any person was identified as a culprit.However,Pandey asserted that the ‘culprits’ responsible for the crime will not be spared.”They will be brought to justice”,said the DGP.
