*Picture shows skill development in action at Green School, Kolebira in West Singhbhum distict of Jharkhand where farmers were being trained to cultivate high price item-mushroom- in their own fields.

Tata Steel is empowering  tribal farmers by training them gain skill to undertake modern farming.It has conducted a 3- day Mushroom plantation training programme at Green School, Kolebira in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand for the Self Help Groups(SHGs) based in and around Noamundi. 

On the first day of this programme,Tapas Ranjan who is a representative of Tata Steel Skill Development Society, provided training to farmers belonging to 6 SHGs.

The prime aim of this move  is to improve the economic condition of the farmers and their SHG’s by teaching them the trade to cultivate mushroom.In fact,Tata Steel Rural Development Society has decided to provide seeds, plastics to cover  and wheat flour for the initial stage of cultivation.   

Speaking on the occasion  Allen Joseph, Tata Steel Rural Development Society, Unit Head, Noamundi, said : “ The training will now not only help them become economical but will also shape them towards becoming self sustained. Moving forward the vision is to empower such SHG’s so that they can cast their learning and positivity onto others.”     

A total of 27 people from 6 different SHG’s attended the training session.
