After the Assembly polls were held in Karnataka, political eyebrows were raised in far away in Jharkhand.

This was evident from the remarks of leaders of both the ruling BJP and the Opposition Congress which were published by local Hindi dailies today. Though the Exit polls have predicted a hung Assembly, the BJP and the Congress leaders separately claimed that their respected party is going to get majority seats to form the government.

Even in Karnataka, both the BJP and the Congress were confident of winning the Assembly elections, voting for which were held on Saturday.

Notably, while BJP's chief ministerial candidate BS Yeddyurappa said that his party will win 125-130 seats, Congress leader and state chief minister Siddaramaiah asked his partymen to "enjoy the weekend" and not worry about the poll results.

More, Siddaramaiah observed that if the 'need' arises from his party(Congress) can nominate any Dalit candidate as Chief Minister. This means he and the Congress party were making efforts from behind the scene to rope in JD(U)  which is expected to get the third position in the list of seats won by parties in Karnataka Assembly polls.

Not lagging behind is BJP. Its top leadership is learned to be trying to shake hands with JD(U) chief H D Deve Goda who has gone on record saying his party expects a possibility of forming the government. During the campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had appreciated his pro-farmer activities.

In any case, the high -voltage elections to the Karnataka assembly are perceived as a bell weather ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
