Sunita Devi(50)carries wrinkles showing her pain.Every day, when she has to attend to the nature’s call, she has to wait for the darkness to descend so that she can relieve herself.

Devi is not an isolated case. She is among 150 women who suffered silently.Since there was no toilet in their colony near Bariatu under the ward Number one of the Ranchi Municipal Corporation, they have to get in the wee hours to freshen themselves in the open field.

Today, when the world was observing the Women’s Day,these women are living examples of the government’s flagship scheme-Sampurna Swachata Abhiyan envisaging construction of toilets across India including Jharkhand, gone awry.

What is most shameful is that this colony is at a stone throw distance from the Raj Bhawan.”We have to wait for the Sun to set or darkness to envelop the sky to attend to the nature’s call. Most often it is painful. The problem intensifies when any body suffers from stomach upset”,confides a woman with a female reporter of www.JharkhandNews.com.

Sadly, like their area of habitation, there were scores of colonies and slums in Jharkhand where there was no toilet and the women were made to suffer untold miseries. Can the Governor Syed Ahmad and his Advisors K Vijay Kumar and Madhukar Gupta end their woes and help them have toilets in their colonies?
