Four cops were gunned down by the CPI(Maoist) ultras near the bus depot of the Chainpur block in Gumla district today.

Reports said the mo bike borne Maoists opened fire on a police patrol jeep.”Nearly 20 Maoists moving by ten bikes sparyed bullets on the police patrol jeep.All policemen died on the spot”,said an eye witness.

The police said that the Maoists were having lunch at a hotel.”As soon as the police reached there to nab them,they were fired at”,said Chainpur police station’s Officer In Charge Pankaj Kumar.

After gunning down the policemen,the Maoists decamped with their weapons including three Insas rifles.No arrest was made in this connection so far.
