To promote clean and green energy, 345 solar street lights are being installed by Tata Steel in its all lease-hold villages in Jharia Division.

A formal inaugural ceremony was organised at Jahajtand village on 2nd May 2013. More than 350 villagers including women and children gathered to welcome Sanjay Kumar Singh, General Manager, Jharia.

On this occasion he told- “Solar-powered lighting is emerging as an environmental-friendly and cost-efficient solution in many outdoor lighting applications. And, Tata Steel finds them to be the perfect solution for illuminating streets, pathways, and signs in location not easily connected to regular electricity supply”.

Dhullu Mahato, MLA, Baghmara has written a letter of appreciation for TSRDS to GM, Jharia, Tata Steel for this major initiative and expressed gratitude to steel major’s continuous efforts for the community nearby it.

Also, Sitaram Bhuiyan, Mukhia, Rampur- Kanchanpur Panchayat in Sijua group appreciated this initiative to provide lights for villagers especially residents of Kanchanpur panchayat where many villages are still not electrified.
