The sports drama - “Liger” has hit a record fain in box office.This film with stars Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday had has raised Rs 33.12 crore gross worldwide on the first day of its theatrical release, reports PTI.

The film is directed by Puri Jagannadh of "Pokiri" fame. It was released in theatres in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam on August 25.

The movie is backed by Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur's banner Puri Connects and Karan Johar-led Dharma Productions. 

"Liger packs a solid punch as Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday starrer collects Rs 33.12 crore gross worldwide," the makers announced on August 26.

In this film,”Arjun Reddy" star Deverakonda has played the role of a kickboxer with a stutter. The film also has features Ramya Krishna, Ronit Roy and Vishu Reddy. 

Notably,boxing icon Mike Tyson is in a eye catching role.

"Liger" is produced by Jagannadh and Kaur, along with Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta.
