None other than India’s Jharkhand has figured in the international film award sector.
So because when India finds itself out of the Oscar race powerful documentary, the film “ To Kill A Tiger” which depicts the barbaric incident of gang rape in Jharkhand, has emerged as a strong contender in the Best Documentary category.
Notably, the ‘ To Kill A Tiger’ documentary is directed by filmmaker Nisha Pahuja.
It highlights disturbing events surrounding the gang rape of a 13- year old girl in Jharkhand, bringing attention to the heinous crime and aftermath that saw her parents facing an uphill task in getting justice.
Police records show that this minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by seven men, including one of her minor friends, at an isolated location under Mandar police station in Ranchi district on August 26, 2021.
The 96th Oscars will be held on March 10, 2024. Its award show will hosted by Jimmy Kimmel at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
