They are there in their pursuit to foster curiosity, innovation and self confidence to contribute to India’s scientific and technological progress.

There are 28 girls from various government schools in East Singhbhum. They visited the Indian Space Research Organisation’s Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC-SHAR) at Sriharikota on August 11.

All of them were selected through the Science Olympiad.

Now one of these students described the trip as enriching and inspirational and thanked Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and the district administration for the opportunity.

Their tour began at the Mission Control Centre, where the students witnessed the satellite launch process, control systems and real-time data monitoring. At the Launch Pad Complex, they learned about rocket assembly, fuelling and pre-launch preparations.

Their visit also included the Satellite Integration and Testing Facility, where scientists explained how sensors, communication systems and solar panels are installed and tested to withstand space conditions. Experts briefed them on major Indian missions, including Chandrayaan and Gaganyaan.

Deputy Commissioner Karan Satyarthi said the experience would “give wings to the dreams of East Singhbhum’s daughters”.
