Promoting and celebrating the essence of biodiversity through art, a four-day art festival named “Jaiba Kala Vividhata”, kicked-off at Tata Steel, Noamundi on December 26, 2017.

Kumar Ashutosh, Divisional Forest Officer, Chaibasa inaugurated the event as Chief Guest along with Pankaj Satija, General Manager, Ore Mines & Quarries (OMQ) Division, Tata Steel in the presence of  R P Mali, Chief, Noamundi Iron Mine, Tata Steel, Anand Bihari, Ranger, Noamundi, Sanjay Kumar Das, Secretary, Noamundi Mazdoor Union, Sailesh Pandey, President, Noamundi Mazdoor Union and Brindavan Debnath and Badal Pramanik, renowned canvas artists from Jamshedpur.

“Jaiba Kala Vividhata” explores the wonders embedded in nature and expresses it in different forms of art ranging from canvas painting, sand art, tribal art forms, craft, patachitra and wooden artifacts.  Tata Steel every year organises this biodiversity festival to reiterate its commitment towards the promotion of biodiversity.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashutosh said: “This is indeed a wonderful initiative by Tata Steel at Noamundi to sensitise the community towards biodiversity. It is a lovely atmosphere here, the green trees and colorful artifacts make it a perfect environment for promoting biodiversity.”

Addressing the gathering, Satija said: “All of our activities are aimed towards the National Biodiversity Targets. We at Tata Steel, appreciate and celebrate all forms of biodiversity and promoting art through biodiversity is one such annual initiative.”  

The key attractions of today’s programme included the butterfly dance performance by school children, puppet show, pottery workshop and live portrait sketch by professional artists from Jamshedpur. A total of 25 renounced artists from Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal, along with other professional artists, over the period of next three days, will portray different shades of biodiversity on the canvas. Special art and craft workshop for school children were also organised today. Workshop on wooden sculpture, thermocol art workshop and pottery workshop for children is something to watch out for in the next three days.
