Jharkhand is witnessing an increase in cold weather due to incessant rains since Sunday.
A severe cyclonic storm named 'PHETHAI' (pronounced as Pay-ti) has formed over southwest & west-central of Bay of Bengal which is causing incessant rains across Jharkhand since Sunday.
According to the Met department, the cyclonic storm is likely to hit Andhra Pradesh coast on Monday afternoon. Extremely heavy rainfall has been predicted at several places in Andhra Pradesh like East & west Godavari, Vishakhapatnam, Krishna, Guntur, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam Districts.
Due to the storm over the Andhra Pradesh coast, light to moderate rain and thundershower activity over Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal has been forecasted.
The storm is like to move north and later towards the northeast, Rain will continue in Jharkhand till Wednesday. From Wednesday the sky will clear but the cold will intensify further.
The effect of cold can already be seen as the roads wear a deserted look quite early in the evening. People could be seen sitting huddled across little bonfire to beat the cold.
