Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren today threatened Prime Minister Narendra Modi led NDA government saying if compensation for land acquired for coal mining is not paid, the coalition government of the Congress, RJD and JMM will take legal action against the Centre.

Soren said that in Independent India, the Coal India Ltd had never given any compensation for land acquired by it for coal mining purpose to the state government. But the same "CIL had paid compensation to Odisha and other states", said the CM claiming that the Coal India Ltd owes Rs 40,000 crore due to the government of Jharkhand. 

To get the compensation paid, the CM Soren said, he was 'strongly' raising his demand before the Central government, Coal India Ltd and the Union Coal Minister."I will continue to raise it. Even then if the payment was not made quickly, he can take legal action."For its right, my government will knock the door of the law", he said.   

The CM Soren who was speaking on the occasion of the state government's programme -'Sarkar Aapke Dwar'(Government at your door)-in Dumka on Wednesday, also announced a pension scheme for old age citizens and widows of all age groups. To gain the benefit of this pension, the beneficiaries have to fill up forms and submit.    

Stating that his government had put up its demand for the Central government. In response, the Centre for the first time handed over a cheque of  Rs 250 crore", said the CM.
