Nitish Kumar is heading to break alliance of his party JD(U) with the BJP in Bihar.

Kumar, Chief Minister of Bihar, sources said, aims to join the opposition Congress- RJD- Left parties and thereby oppose Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2024 General Elections as a ‘ potential candidate’ for the post of Prime Minister.

“ He has nothing to lose. He has been the CM and Union Minister for long. At the fag end of his political life, he has an option to either stick to the present status quo- JD((U)- BJP - alliance. Or look for higher goal of the PM’s post”, said an insider who does not want to be named.

Notwithstanding his political ambition,Nitish Kumar was dubbed by the RJD leader as ‘Paltu Chacha’.His party seems to be exploring ways to exit from the NDA.

NDA leaders have pointed out that Kumar left the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)-led Grand Alliance in 2017 and allied with the BJP again over corruption. “This time the issue is coalition dharma. The JD (U) is alleging the BJP has been continuously undermining the party,” said an NDA leader, requesting anonymity.

A JD (U) leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the BJP honoured its commitment by making Nitish Kumar the chief minister despite getting lesser seats in the 2020 polls. “But of late, it [BJP) was trying to demean him.”

Now, the media persons who are certain that the JD(U) will come out of the NDA are waiting for the day when Nitish Kumar alias Paltu Chacha bids adieu to BJP led NDA.
