Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais is expected declare today disqualification of Hemant Soren as MLA anytime.
“After the legal advise is obtained and studied, appropriate administrative measure will be initiated”, said a source.
The Election Commission in its sealed confidential letter to Governor, Jharkhand, is learnt to have held Chief Minister Hemant Soren guilty of misusing his position to allot a stone mining lease to himself last year. The Chief Minister also heads the state’s mining department.
How Governor Bais moves to implement the EC’s ruling delivered to him on Thursday is set to be questioned and legally contested judiciously soon.
“We will seek justice from judiciary”, said an aide close to CM Hemant Soren.
Already the Soren led party has defenced him.
JMM general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya says his party is “ready to accept any challenge from the BJP in political and judicial fields.
“We are sure he( Hemant Soren)will remain the CM till 2024. In 2019, we had taught them(BJP) a lesion and subsequently won four by- elections in Jharkhand…Public support is with us as Hemant Soren government has performed and fulfilled all its promises”, says Bhattacharya.
Right now, in the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly, JMM has 49 MLAs support- JMM 30 MLAs while it’s allies Congress and RJD have 18 MLAs and one MLA each.
