Hemant Soren ko Bhajpa phasa raha hai"(Hemant Soren Soren is being trapped by the BJP),said Sudhir Munda. His opinion is symptomatic of a general opinion of Adivasis in Ranchi and its adjoining areas in Jharkhand.

A day after Chief Minister Hemant Soren was quizzed of over 8-9 hours by sleuths of the Enforcement Directorate inside their office in Ranchi on Thursday, scores of Adivasis gathered outside official residence of the CM.Most of them who belonged to the ruling party JMM were shouting slogans in favour of Soren.

The data collectors of JharkhandState News.com moved around in Adivasi dominated areas of Khunti,Simdega,Gumla,Ranchi,Hazaribagh and Chatra to know what neutral Adivasis think about the unprecedented move by the ED summoning and quizzing CM Soren on alleged Rs 1000 crore illegal mining case.In a random survey of 3034 respondents(male and female of 20-65 years of age) 2928 of them in common opined that Chief Minister Hemant Soren has become a 'victim' of 'politics.'

In all,2409 Adivasi respondents the ruling BJP at the Centre has 'trapped' him.Among the rest 591 Adivasi respondents,33 supported the ED's move."If he(Soren)has indulged in illegal mining,he must be booked," said Laku Manjhi,64,a retired Principal of a private school in Hazaribagh.

Notably,in central government agencies files,Soren seems to be in a sea of trouble. The ECI held him guilty of misusing his office by allotting himself a stone-mining lease last year-Soren held Mining portfolio-and advised Bais to disqualify Soren as MLA under the Representation Act,1951.Not the least, the Ed arrested Soren's aide Pankaj Mishra in connection with alleged financial irregularities in the MGNREGS rural job guarantee scheme in 2010.The  central agency had also arrested state Mining Secretary Pooja Singhal who has since been suspended and is currently in jail.

Despite the corruption allegations hanging over his head and the EC investigating his involvement in the illegal mining case,Soren remains popular among Adivasis.Remarkably, his rival party leaders have preferred to keep quiet on the ED's grilling of Soren.

But Soren continued to be tearing apart the BJP."Their ploy will not stop us and we are not scared of them.In our minds, there is no place for fear",says Soren boldly.
