Ahead of the Deoghar Shravani Mela 2023, Jharkhand police have withdrawn the security guards of several VIPs.

The move is part of the state police plan to maintain law and order during the coming two- month long Shravani mela, it is learnt.

Among the prominent VIPs whose security guards were withdrawn were Union Minister Arjun Munda and suspended and jailed IAS officer Puja Singhal.

According to the police high command, famous month-long Sharvani Mela will start on July 4. 

A total of 8640 State Police jawans will be deployed for security in this Shravani Mela which will last for about two months.

As a result, it will be challenging for the district administration. The Mela is divided into two phases. The first phase is from July 4 to 17 July. The second phase is from 18 July to 21 August. The mela will end on the day of Raksha Bandhan.

Accused in money laundering connected with the MGNERGA scam in Khunti, Puja Singhal had two security guards- Rajesh Ranjan Singh and Binod Kumar Singh who were directed to join the police establishment.

So was the case with Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda, Ex MPs- Pradeep Balmuchu, Dr Ajay Kumar, Shailendra Mahato, MLA Mangal Kalwindi, MLA Ram Das Soren, MLA Samir Mohanty, Ex-Minister Ramchandra Sahish, Ex MLA Menka Sardar, Ex MLA Luxman Tudu, Tata Workers’ Union President Sanjiv Kumar Choudhary and INTUC leader Rakeshwar Pandey.

Even BJP state unit Ex-President Dineshanand Goswami, BJP’s ex Spokesperson Anarpreet Singh Khanujha, Women University VC Ajila Gupta, ex-Home Secretary, NN Pandey, ex-Commissioner Vijay Kumar will be free from security guards provided by state police.

The Jharkhand Police has ordered the withdrawal of security of these VIPs.
