Ruckus started on floor of the state Assembly as soon as proceedings began on the 5th day of the monsoon session today when opposition BJP leaders sought apology from Irfan Ansari, Congress MLA for his controversial statement on Adivasi community.

Against this backdrop of BJP law makers’ ruckus, the session was adjourned till 12.30 pm.Next, when the proceedings started, BJP MLAs again started raising slogans  and demanded apology from Congress MLA Irfan Ansari.

In fact, Ansari, MLA from Jamtara, had attacked the Adivasi community on Wednesday while speaking in the Jharkhand Assembly. 

Irfan Ansari had questioned BJP leader Babulal Marandi's intellect and asked how a Tribal leader( Babulal Marandi) could be so smart. 

Later, on being interrogated, Ansari said that Adivasis were never insulted and he is the biggest well-wisher of Adivasis in the state.

Making a controversial statement in the Jharkhand Assembly, Irfan Ansari said, "How did BJP leader Babulal Marandi get so smart'.We do not understand. He is a Tribal and since when Tribals become so smart."

Later, clarifying his statement, he said, "If you see the proceedings, Adivasis were never insulted. I said, "How did Babulal get so smart'" Earlier he was secular. He became an MLA with the votes of Dalits, Adivasis and minorities. But once he entered the BJP office, he started spewing venom. That was the sense of what I said. I am the biggest well-wisher of Adivasis in the state."

Today, when the adjourned session began post noon, BJP MLA Biranchi Narayan asked another Congress MLA and parliamentary affairs minister Alamgir Alam to apologise. 

In response, Alamgir Alam responded and said that Irfan Ansari had already apologised on “ Adivasi statement” on Wednesday. 

“Although his ( Irfan Ansari’s statement was expunged, BJP legislatures continued to protest”, said Alamgir Alam.Soon, the Speaker adjourned the session till 2 pm.
