Aware of the ED-heat and imminent arrest in money laundering cases, Hemant Soren might follow in the footsteps of Lalu Prasad Yadav. 

Lalu Yadav was successful in making his wife Rabri Devi become the first female Chief Minister of Bihar on 25 July 1997, after he, who was forced to resign following the arrest warrant issued against him for corruption charges relating to the Fodder scam.  

Rabri Devi went on to rule the state of Bihar till 2005. Now, when the Enforcement Directorate is pursuing other cases too against Soren, he has his Lalu Yadav -plan in place. 

As per the same, if he is arrested by the ED and decides to resign, his wife Kalpana Soren can be made his successor. Incidentally, Kalpana Soren isn't an MLA but that will be taken care of too. How? 

Since Kalpana Soren is learnt to have been backed by JMM supremo Shibu Soren, who is a towering Adivasi leader, none of her rivals including CM Hemant Soren’s younger brother Basant Soren and step- sister in law Sita Soren can challenge her. 

As it is, JMM MLA Sarfaraz Ahmed resigned from the Gande Assembly on January 2, 2024, to give effect to the Lalu- Yadav plan. Sardaraz Ahmad, JMM MLA from Gandey constituency, is a three-time MLA. 

He was elected twice on Congress tickets and moved to the JMM just ahead of the 2019 polls. Ahmed's resignation, earlier, had sparked rumours that Hemant Soren's wife might take over as the Jharkhand Chief Minister.
