A special PMLA Court in Ranchi has refused to grant interim bail to former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren in a land scam case.

Soren had sought interim bail of 13 days from the court to attend the funeral of his uncle, hearing which the court refused to grant him bail.

In his petition, he had sought interim bail for 13 days on grounds of his uncle Ram Soren, elder brother of his father Shivu Soren. Ram Soren was ailing for a long period.

Hemant Soren, ex-CM of Jharkhand, has been in jail on charges of money laundering linked with a land scam since January 31.

ED probe pertains to huge amounts of proceeds of crime generated by forging official records by showing 'fake sellers' and purchasers in the guise of forged or bogus documents to acquire huge parcels of land valued in crores.
