As the JMM battles with its back to the wall, CM Hemant Soren has chosen to hit the streets for the first time, before the state celebrates its foundation function on November 15 and the Election Commission notifies Assembly polls 2024,
Faced with the assembly elections, a battle that the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party, now a giant election machine, seems gearing up to oil its party machine and ally All Jharkhand Students Union,Soren, who was out of jail on bail, wants to connect himself and his party with the people at ground zero.
After taking oath of office as Chief Minister for third time on July 4,Hemant Soren, who was arrested on January 31 and subsequently jailed on charges of money laundering linked with the land scam ever since then, has his task cut out.
The Enforcement Directorate has moved the Supreme Court with its Special Leave Petition( SLP), challenging the bail granted to him in the same money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam.
The Jharkhand High Court had granted him bail on June 28. Against this backdrop, legal case against him has potential to create before him two possibilities.
First, the SC upholds the HC’s verdict stating that Soren is “ prima facie not guilty.” If this happens, the ED will fall flat, making Hemant Soren free from charges of corruption.
Two, if the top court dismisses the order passed by the Jharkhand High Court, granting him bail in the money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam, Hemant Soren will be sent to jail again.
In such an eventuality, ahead of the Assembly polls in the state, the CM Soren can follow his counterpart of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal and run the government from behind the high walls.
Aware of these eventualities, CM Hemant Soren, who was spotted signing official files and inspecting government schemes including two - three over bridges under construction in Ranchi on Tuesday and Wednesday, deemed it fit to launch Yatra.
Though the itinerary of the yatra is not known, CM Hemant Soren can launch it in the coming month of August, it is learnt. “
Hemant Soren wishes to thank people for making his party and I.N.D.I.A ally Congress win 5 Lok Sabha seats. He will also apprise people how the BJP falsely implicated a sincere and young Adivasi in the alleged money laundering case and kept him in jail for over five months”, said a JMM leader considered close to him.
