Since Babulal Marandi is busy campaigning, the BJP wants the state BJP to function effectively under Ravindra Rai's leadership during the upcoming assembly polls in 2024.

Rai who was denied ticket by the party was upset. Babulal Marandi, who is campaigning as chief ministerial figure in the state was appointed as Jharkhand BJP president on 4 July 2023.

Against this backdrop, Bharatiya Janata Party's national president JP Nadda on Saturday appointed Ravindra  Rai, a former MP, as the working president of the BJP's Jharkhand unit with immediate effect.

"National President of Bharatiya Janata Party Jagat Prakash Nadda Ji has appointed Dr. Ravindra Kumar Rai, former MP as the working president of BJP, Jharkhand. 

“This appointment will be effective immediately," said, Arun Singh, National General Secretary and Headquarters Incharge. 

Meanwhile, ahead of the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, the BJP on Friday announced the list of 40-star campaigners for the polls. 

The list includes the names of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national president JP Nadda, Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari Dharmendra Pradhan and Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
