Within the opposition Mahagathbabdhan alliance, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha is struggling to secure foot print in Bihar.

JMM, led by its party General Secretary Vinod Pandey and Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu, who were sent by the CM Hemant Soren to discuss seat sharing with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on September 6, is demanding “a reasonable number of seats” in the forthcoming Assembly elections from the constituencies located in the border districts of Bihar.

They had held a meeting with RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav on October 7. Though no official announcement was made till now( Wednesday 1.45 pm), the RJD is willing to give JMM one Scheduled Tribe(ST) Reserved Assembly constituency Katoria.

Bihar has two ST Reserved constituencies- Manihari and Katoria. In 2020 Assembly polls, the Indian National Congress had won Manihari while the BJP won Katoria.

This time in 2025, the RJD wants JMM to contest from Katoria to grab it from the BJP. The Congress has no objection as it falls in the RJD’s list of Assembly Constituencies.

The announcement is likely to be made after deal is struck among the Mahagatbhandan partners including the RJD, Congress, Left parties and JMM soon.
