A comprehensive statewide Pulse Polio Immunisation Campaign kick-started in Jharkhand today (June 28 ). It will conclude on June 30.

The campaign is designed to target 61.26 lakh children under the age of five. The primary goal is to maintain the state's polio-free status by ensuring all eligible children receive the necessary oral vaccine drops.

The three-day intensive drive is planned to be operated in two distinct phases.

Day 1 (June 28): Over 24,000 vaccination booths have been set up across the state where parents can bring their children to receive drops.

Days 2 & 3 (June 29 - 30): Health workers will conduct door-to-door visits to vaccinate children who missed the initial booth drive. To support the campaign, a massive network of health workers, Anganwadi workers, and community volunteers (sahiya) is deployed, overseen by the state health department.
