Jharkhand based doctors greeted the state government's move to introduce medical protection rule.A decision to this effect was taken by the state cabinet headed by chief minister Raghubar Das today.
The cabinet approved the Jharkhand Chikista Seva Sansthan(Hinsa and Sampati Nuykshan Nivarikaran)Vidhyak,2017(read Medical Protection Bill,2017).
Medical Protection Ordinance,2017 seeks to protect doctors,clinics and hospitals by any attack from outside.It mandates fine on those persons who violate this rule.
During that over ten years,most doctors in Jharkhand had raised this demand many times in view of many cases of crime recorded by the police against doctors.The demand was raised for the first time by Ranchi based famous Ophthalmologist Dr Bharti Kashyap in 2005.
'We are happy that the government has approved the medical protection bill and we hope it is approved by the state assembly and implemented by the state government in letter and spirit",said Dr RS Das,ex Ranchi based IMA president.
