A good news emanating from corridors of power is that children who were rescued from the vicious cycle of trafficking, bonded labour, domestic services, are going to benefit from the state government's project.

The project entails construction of a hostel with facilities of food and clothes for these victims of trafficking, domestic service, and bonded labour menace.

The construction is planned to begin in the forthcoming financial year. In fact, the state government plans to approve a separate budget for 'development' of children belonging to the poor family.

Already, Chief Minister Raghubar Das is on record extending his support to the vulnerable children rescued from the vicious cycle of trafficking, bonded labour, domestic help. 

During the programme titled ‘Hausala @ 2018 — Bal Adhikar Mahotsav’, organised by Jharkhand State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (JSCPCR) in collaboration with Department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development — ICDS Wing, Das had assured 'all possible help to the children in distress.'

More, he declared that a hostel for accommodating approximately 2,500 kids with all facilities will be built in Ranchi. The project aims to build first of its kind building for Skill Development Centre. This building, apart from providing training and nurturing the talents of the kids, will accommodate these children.

Further, for rehabilitation of children, the CM on the occasion asked the respective Circle Officers (COs) to prepare the list of kids who have suffered mental and physical torture at some point of time in their lives. “The list of teenagers who have attained the age of 18 years or above must be prepared by the COs. Those enrolled in the centre will be given training in specific trades to lead a decent life,” the CM added.

Also, the state government plans to provide Rs 2,000 each of those 25 children going to attend a national symposium at New Delhi on Child Rights. 

In the past, many NGOs had demanded support to the children in distress and urged the state government to provide aid.

Records show that the  CM while addressing the gathering in the presence of eminent dignitaries like Secretary, Department of Social Welfare, Amitabh Kaushal, Skill Development CEO Amar Jha, Special Secretary, Department of Women, Child Development and Social Welfare Dr. DK Saxena, IPS BB Pradhan including 240 children of shelter homes clarified that no injustice against the children will be tolerated in Jharkhand.

Meanwhile, Chairperson JSCPCR Arti Kujur said, the nodal agency of State working for the protection of child rights and to eradicate the social evils that is creating hurdle for children’s growth will leave no stone unturned to support the deprived kids.
