Indian Council of Medical Research in league with Bharat Biotech International Ltd is in the process to develop medical remedy to COVID-19.

Billed as indigenous COVID-19 vaccine BBV152 COVID vaccine, it is learned to be on ‘fast track clinical trial.’ It is expected to be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 15, 2020.

This is the first indigenous vaccine being developed by India and is one of the top priority projects being monitored at the top level of the government led by the PM Modi.

“The vaccine is derived from a strain of SARS-CoV 2 insulated by the ICMR-National Institute of Virology, Pune, ICMR and BBIL as a jointly working for the preclinical as well as clinical development of this vaccine”, states Padma Shri Balram Bhargava, ICMR’s Director-General in a letter dated July 2.
