Inside Ranchi-based St.Xavier’s College, the trending topic is Alfa Toppo. She has hit the headlines as she has been awarded the prestigious Chevening Scholarship to pursue a Master's degree in Public Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
A tribal girl, Alfa Toppo, hails from the rural belt of Piska Nagri,17-18 km from Ranchi in Jharkhand, India. Her father, Ashish Toppo who is a preacher of the Catholic Church.
Incidentally, she has done her graduation from St.Xavier’s College, Ranchi, and inspired by her own thought to pursue higher study, she started exploring ways to go to the UK even though the economic condition of her family did not favour her ambition. She applied for the Chevening Scholarship.

Chevening Scholarships are fully-funded, leaving her free to focus on achieving her professional goals and maximising the experience of a lifetime. She will live and study in the UK for a year, during which time she is supposed to develop herself professionally and academically, network extensively, experience UK culture, and build lasting positive relationships with the UK.
On completing her Master's from the London School of Economics and Political Science( LSE), she is supposed to leave the UK equipped with the knowledge and networks necessary to bring own ideas to life.
