CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML), Jamshedpur, had organized a laboratory visit for 54 students and 2 teachers from Srinath Public School, Jamshedpur.
The objective is to promote scientific awareness and expose students to the world of scientific research and innovation. This Program was organized under the CSIR-Jigyasa Virtual Laboratory project.
In the morning on Friday, an inaugural programme was arranged. It kick started with a welcome address by Dr. Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Director, CSIR-NML. He welcomed all attendees who joined the program and briefly mentioned the contribution of CSIR-NML to the development of our nation in the past 75 years of glory through various technological developments and pioneering works.
Following the welcome address, Dr. Sarmistha Sagar (Chief Scientist & HOD, IMDC) discussed the importance of CSIR-NML and its contribution to research and development activities.
 After that, Dr. Animesh Jana, Senior Scientist at IMDC, discussed the objectives of the Jigyasa Program. He elaborated on the Program's vision to foster scientific curiosity among school students and strengthen the connection between scientists and young minds.
The program included a visit to some research laboratories like Applied and Analytical Chemistry Division, Creep testing facilities, Non-destructive testing of metals, E-Waste Recycling, Brass Melting, and demonstration of DIY kits.
The programme was concluded with a vote of thanks and group Photographs by all attendees.
Overall, the students and teachers expressed their immense satisfaction with the insightful experience gained during the laboratory visit and demonstration of research activities.
