Ranchi: The second day of the three-day Capacity Building Programme, organised under the aegis of the Chair on Consumer Research and Policy (CCRP) at the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, was successfully conducted on Sunday. 

The day focused extensively on judgment writing skills, procedural efficiency, and digital aspects of consumer dispute resolution.

The day began with a special session by Justice Sri T.G. Shivashankare Gowda, President of the Karnataka State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission. Delivering a lecture on "Judgment Writing Skills and Standard Judgment Formats", he highlighted the technical aspects of composing high-quality judicial orders.

The second session featured Mr. Syed Ansar Kaleem, President of the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, Kolar, Karnataka, who shared his expertise on "Enhancing Procedural Efficiency and Effectiveness in Consumer Dispute Resolutions".

 

The post-lunch session was conducted by Mr. Akshay Yadav, Research Scholar at Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Bangalore, and Co-Founder of Ramkrishna Law Firm and Research Centre, Chikodi. He led an informative session on "e-Daakhil, e-Jagrati, and Dark Patterns", addressing digital aspects of consumer protection, emerging techniques of online fraud, and measures to counter them.

The day concluded with a panel discussion featuring Mr. Basant Kumar Goswami, Acting President of the Jharkhand State Consumer Commission; Prof. (Dr.) Ashok R. Patil, Vice-Chancellor of NUSRL RANCHI and Mr. Akshay Yadav. The discussion revolved around the current scenario of consumer protection, challenges, and future strategies.

Prof. (Dr.) Ashok R. Patil, Vice-Chancellor of NUSRL Ranchi, remarked, "Today’s sessions provided invaluable insights into crucial aspects of the consumer justice system, such as judicial writing, digital security, and procedural improvements. This training will further strengthen the protection of consumer rights in Jharkhand."

The final day of the programme, on 25 August, will feature sessions on critical topics such as "Penalty, Offences, and Warrant", "Food Safety and Labelling", and "Legal Metrology", followed by a valedictory ceremony.
