Cops are interrogating the source of arms and ammunition recovered from the possession of four suspected Naxals who were nabbed by them in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand on the intervening night of Thursday- Friday.
As per the report made public by the police today, on a tip off, a 22- year- old Birsa Paan and his associates were apprehended while they were moving towards Goilkera with plans to collect levy and possibly commit serious crimes.
This was confirmed by the West Singhbhum SP, Rakesh Ranjan. In fact, Ranjan set up two police raid teams to conduct a vehicle inspection late Wednesday, as per the police statement issued on Thursday.
Reports said that at approximately 11:40 pm, law enforcement located four young men on two motorcycles without number plates approaching from the Bandgaon market area and attempting to escape after sighting the police. However, police successfully caught them following a chase, seizing two country-made pistols—one of which was automatic—a live cartridge, a mobile phone, two motorcycles, and a chit from the banned Naxal outfit PLFI, as detailed in the statement.
The police have filed a case under the relevant sections of the BNS, Arms Act, and CLA Act.
