Jharkhand Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma on Friday directed the concerned Agriculture officers to get seed map made of the ‘Parti Zamin'(flat or barren lands) in the state.

Addressing the Agriculture officers through the video conference,the CS directed them to identify barren land,district wise, and find how much of seed was required to make it cultivable.

Also,the CS directed them to ensure that seedlings were planted and tractors booked for getting plowing of these barren lands down as soon as possible.

In the video conference,it became clear that 1.10 lakh hectares in 15,000 villages of the state were identified as barren lands.

Following the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme,1.5 lakh had got themselves insured,371 seed villages were made and 8637 farmers’ lands were examined in Jharkhand.

The CS conveyed to them that while the target was to make 10 lakh farmers benifit from the PM Crop Insurance scheme,only 1.50 lakh farmers had benifited from it so far.”Work as a team to achieve the target”,she suggested adding that they should hold farmers’ camps to bring awareness among them.

The video conference was attended among others by Secretary(Agriculture)Nitin Madan Kulkarni and Director(Agriculture)Jatashankar Choudhary.
