ROURKELA, 30 August 2025: Despite global challenges such as recession-induced layoffs, students at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela have received a total of 1274 placement offers and 509 six-month internships leading to potential Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) in the recently concluded 2024-25 placement drive.

Across all programs. the highest CTC recorded this year is Rs. 62.44 Lakh Per Annum (LPA). The average CTC for flagship B. Tech. program was Rs. 14.10 LPA, and M. Tech. program was 13.48 LPA. The highest internship offer received this year is Rs. 1.26 Lakh Per Month (LPM).

Notably, more than 85 students have received annual packages exceeding Rs. 30 LPA.

Key highlights of this year’s placement drive include:

*For its B. Tech programs, the Institute has achieved 82.20% placements with Department of Ceramic Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering and Department of Computer Science and Engineering receiving 97.73 %, 97.06% and 94.48% placement offers respectively.

*More than 80% placement recorded for UG programs including, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Metallurgical & Materials Engineering.

This year’s placement drive witnessed participation from 373 recruiters of which 48.36% were first time recruiters. Majority of companies participating in NIT Rourkela’s placement drive were from Software and IT Services sector followed by Manufacturing, BFSI, Electronics, and Education sectors among others.

Highlighting the placement trends, Prof. Surajit Das, Head. Career Development Centre, NIT Rourkela, said, “The Software & IT sector led placements with 22.9% share, followed by Manufacturing (12.4%), BFSI (11.1%), Education (10.8%), Power & Heavy Industries (8.1%), and Oil & Gas (6.1%). 

The remaining share was contributed by emerging domains such as Aerospace, Healthcare, and advanced manufacturing. Additionally, key job roles/profiles offered during this placement drive included, Software Engineer, Software Development Engineer, Hardware Engineer, Graduate Trainee Engineer, Data Analyst, and Business Analyst, among others.”

Top Recruiters included Google, AMD, Qualcomm, Wells Fargo, JSW, Amazon, ExxonMobil, DE Shaw & Co, Accenture, Barclays, Deloitte, MathWorks, ITC, Texas Instruments, American Express, HP, Bharat Petroleum, and several others.
