Morahabadi Maidan in Ranchi witnessed international track cyclist, Gauri Mishra leading the cyclothon on Sunday morning( September 21).
Organised under the Sansad Khel Mahotsav, Minister of state for Defence Sanjay Seth and former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Raghubar Das flagged off the cyclothon.
Scores of sports persons and cyclists were present, giving colour to the event led by Gauri Shankar who is highly decorated retired naval officer.
She has served in the Indian Navy for a period of 16 years from 2005 – 2021. Her husband Animesh Kumar ( Retired) Naval officer.
Her passion for cycling was shared with her son, Rian, creating a family legacy of fitness and discipline.
She is a role model for women.Her achievements have made her a global role model, earning her honors like the Inspiring Indian Women Award (UK) and the Visionary Women Award (Singapore).
She has always preached that cycling is not just as a sport but as a movement for unity, health, and environmental sustainability.
