Maoists call for 'Resistance Week' on October 8-14, 2025

Even as Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that India will be - Naxal Mukt Bharat-(free from Naxalism) by March 31, 2026, the banned Naxal outfit - CPI- Maoist- has called for bandh in five states of Eastern India on October 15,2025.

The CPI-Maoist has issued a press release in Chaibasa, West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, informing that it will enforce bandh in Bihar, Jharkhand, North Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, and Assam.

The inter-state bandh has been called to protest against the killings of its comrades in “false encounters”, states the CPI-Maoist release, adding that its cadres will observe a week-long “resistance week” from October 8 to October 14.

The bandh and resistance week programme of the CPI-Maoist in these states is understood to be its move to mobilise support base and showcase its existence against the anti-Maoist operations launched by the Centre to free India from left-wing extremism, a pledge of the PM Modi government.

As per the CPI-Maoist release, there were some fabricated encounters launched by security forces to kill its veterans. For instance, the report issued by the Eastern Regional Bureau representative called “ Sanket”, on September 15, Shahdeo Soren alias Anuj, Bihar- Jharkhand Special Area Committee Member, Raghunath Hembrom alias Chanchal, and Zonal Committee Member Ramlekhawan Ganjhu alias Birsena were “killed in a false encounter.”

Also, on September 7, Chandra Hansda alias Amit alias Aptan, was “ killed in a false encounter”, claims the release.

Further, its release goes on to claim that the security forces lifted “injured” Nilesh alias Arun and, after “ thrashing and torturing him”, “ killed by firing bullets.”

The CPI-Maoist release alleged that security forces detained its members, such as Jaiyant Gurucharan and Basmati and kept them in an undisclosed place and in protest.

The CPI-Maoist bandh on October 15 and the Resistance week protest during October 8-14 is planned to be enforced against these actions of the security forces.

When a senior CRPF officer, on condition of anonymity, refuted the CPI-Maoist’s claim of “fabricated encounters” and “ torture”  of its members and said this.” While becoming extinct by losing support base, it’s their last bit of effort to remain in the news of the media.”
