Amid cloud and drizzle, the capital city of Jharkhand is witnessing three events on Dussehra today.
In Ranchi, with rain in sight on Dussehra, waterproof effigies of the demon king Ravana, along with his brother Kumbhakarna and son Meghnad, are to be burned to symbolise the triumph over evil across the country, including Morahabadi Maidan.
Notably, despite intermittent rain disrupting the arrangements, enthusiasm remains high as waterproof giant effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Meghnath have already been installed at the historic Morabadi Ground.
Historically, for the past 76 years, the Punjabi Hindu community in Ranchi has upheld the tradition of organising Ravan Dahan, a symbolic re-enactment of the triumph of good over evil. Since the formation of Jharkhand. Now, the event has grown in scale and significance, often held in the presence of the Chief Minister.
This time again, Chief Minister Hemant Soren is scheduled to set afire these waterproof effigies of Ravan, Kumbhakarna, and Meghnath in the evening on October 2, 2025.
Alongside, the state and its people are also observing the Late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and Mahatma Gandhi’s Jayanti, marking the celebration of the International Non-Violence across the earth.
