Former Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari has taken charge as the State Election Commissioner(SEC) on holiday.She is the 8 th SEC.

Alka Tiwari who succeeds D.K.Tiwari as SEC. D.K. Tiwari is her husband took charge of her new post on October 2,2025 when the national is celebrating three events.

The government offices were closed to mark these three events. These events are:One. Dussehra festival of Hindus. Two, the former PM Lal Bahadur Shashtri Jayanti. Three, Gandhi Jayanti.
