After receiving a SMS on her mobile phone, showing the transfer of Rs 2.5 thousand to her bank account, Radha Devi dialled her son. “ I have got the Maiya Rashi”, she giggled.
Radha Devi is not alone. She is among scores of beneficiaries who have received Maiya Samman scheme funds credited to their bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer scheme.
In fact, on the eve of Diwali, Hemant Soren led Jharkhand government has has ensured financial assistance just before Diwali.
With the festival of lights hours away, the disbursal of Maiya yojna funds has generated cheers and brought smiles to thousands of families across Jharkhand.
Inquiry revealed that the transfers of Maiya yojna funds be completed ahead of the festival Diwali and Chhath, allowing recipients and beneficiaries to use the financial support for household and festive expenses.
The Maiya Samman scheme, aimed at empowering women and providing economic relief to eligible beneficiaries, has been a key welfare initiative of the state government through DBT which ensure transparency and maintenance of financial records of the state government.

No body knows why monthly payment of Maiya yojna was not made, the state government has not officially confirmed or denied it. However, officials prefer to boast the Soren government’s commitment to women welfare schemes and its focus on uplifting their financial status within family of the marginalized communities through prompt financial aid.
Scores of women beneficiary across the state have welcomed the initiative, seeing it as a much-needed boost to household finances during the festive season.
The scheme was initially launched with Rs 1,000 monthly to beneficiary before Assembly polls in August 2024.
After gaining massive victory, largely owing to the Maiya yojna, in the Assembly polls 2025, the CM Soren revamped the scheme by raising its monthly amount to Rs 2.5 k.
