If prediction of the India Meteorological Department(IMD) becomes real, cloud, drizzle and rain can disturb Chhath devotees in many areas of Jharkhand.
Chhath, annual four- day festival is celebrated for six days after Deepavali, until the sixth day of the lunar month of Kartika. This time it is slated to be observed on October 25 to conclude on October 28,2025.
Since Chhath devotees perform key rituals at water bodies such as ponds and riverbanks by offerings to the setting and rising sun, cloud, drizzle and rain can pose physical discomfort. In the past, instances of rain during the Chhath festival had marred the final day of celebrations.
In any case, the IMD has already issued a rain alert for parts of Bihar and Jharkhand during Chhath Puja. The weather change is attributed to a low-pressure area forming over the Bay of Bengal.
The Ranchi Meteorological Centre has also issued an alert for rain that could disrupt the festivities.
The state could see light to moderate rain between October 24 and 27.
Rain is expected in the eastern and northeastern districts, such as Deoghar, Dumka, and Godda, with light showers in central and southern districts like Ranchi and Dhanbad.
The weather is expected to clear up by October 28, in time for the final rituals of the festival.
