The derailment of iron ore packed goods train in Jharkhand's Simdega district on Wednesday morning,was suspected to be caused by “ poor tracks”.

“ Due to the continuous rain,old tracks on this route needed repair.We are doing our best to make them all- weather friendly”, said a senior railway officer preferring anonymity.

This was confirmed by the Railway authority of Ranchi division. However, derailment of 10 wagons of the goods train transporting iron ore from Bondamunda in Odisha to Ranchi took place near the Kanaroan railway station in Simdega at around 10.15 am this morning.

As many as 10 wagons, each carrying iron ores, were reportedly derailed.There was no casualty, PTI quoted Ramanuj Kumar Verma, an official of the Bano police station, as saying.

The iron ore carrying goods train was on way from Bondamunda in Odisha to Ranchi. Though enquiry was going on, the cause of derailment was not known.
