The National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, is all set to organise a two-day National Seminar on “75 Years of the Indian Constitution: Contemporary Reflections and Future Directions”, beginning today, 25 November 2025, at the NUSRL campus. 

The seminar aims to bring together leading judges, academicians, legal experts, and researchers to deliberate on the evolution of the Constitution and explore future pathways for strengthening democratic governance.

The inaugural ceremony will be graced by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Chief Justice of the High Court of Jharkhand and Chancellor of NUSRL, as the Chief Guest. The event will also be attended by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, Judge, High Court of Jharkhand and Shri Rajiv Ranjan, Advocate General of Jharkhand, who will serve as Guests of Honour.

The event is scheduled to commence at 4:30 PM, featuring:

• Guard of Honour to the Chief Guest
• Traditional Welcome of Guests
• Lighting of the Lamp & NUSRL Anthem performed by university students

This will be followed by:

• Welcome Address by Prof. (Dr.) Ashok R. Patil, Vice Chancellor, NUSRL Ranchi

• Presentation on University Achievements by Prof. (Dr.) Syamala Kandadai, Professor of Law & Dean of Faculty
The inauguration ceremony will also highlight special recognitions:

• Felicitation of Ms. Sakshi Jamuar (IPS), Batch 2021, for securing 89th rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination• Felicitation of Ms. Maloti Hambram, LL.M. Batch 2026, for representing India at the German–India Innovation Summit (GIIC) 2025 in Berlin

Two significant projects will also be inaugurated today:

• “Under Trial Prisoners and Continuous Legal Education for Jharkhand”, funded by the Azim Premji Foundation

• “Right to Livelihood (Nyay Setu)”, supported under CSR by Central Coalfields Limited (CCL)

The Guests of Honour will deliver their addresses, followed by the Keynote Address by the Chief Guest, reflecting on the Constitution’s 75-year journey and its relevance to India’s future. The inaugural programme will conclude with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Avinash Kumar, Assistant Professor of Law, followed by the National Anthem.
