

CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory celebrated its Platinum Jubilee Foundation Day on Wednesday.
Dedicated to the nation in the year 1950, CSIR-NML forms a part of the first laboratories established by visionary Sir Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar, the first Director General of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research.
The event was graced by the current DG and the first female to hold the position, Dr. N Kalaiselvi. Dr. N Murmu, Director CSIR- Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute, Durgapur and Shri S K Jha, Former C&MD, MIDHANI also were present for the occasion.
 Dr. N Kalaiselvi laid the foundation stone for the Test facilities and infrastructure under the National Green Hydrogen Mission of Government of India, a mission which aims to boost indigenous hydrogen production in the country. The test facilities will be one of its kind in the nation.
November 26th is celebrated as Constitution Day in the nation as on 26 November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted to the Constitution of India and Dr Kalaiselvi read out the preamble of the constitution in observance.

Inaugurating the event, Dr Kalaiselvi congratulated the laboratory on its achievements and emphasized on the need to view every challenge as an opportunity to develop indigenous technologies.
She stressed that CSIR interventions have always improved the nations positioning in the global map. She further elaborated on the need of developing technologies, which shall cater to the future needs and to collaborate with Startups to attain the goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat and achieve Vikshit Bharat 2047.
*Shri S K Jha* congratulated the laboratory and lauded that CSIR-NML is one such laboratory which show cases technologies not only at laboratory scale but demonstrates it at pilot scale which is in turn builds the confidence of the industry in its technologies.
*Dr. N Murmu* reflected on the collaborations of CSIR laboratories which is the need of the hour for the development of the nations.
On this occasion CSIR-NML also exchanged MoUs with industries and felicitated the AcSIR alumini. In house awards for best paper, best technology developed, and best employee awards were given. Studentship awards for the wards of employees for excellence in academics were presented by DG CSIR.
