What was highlighted by BJP MP from Godda, Jharkhand, Nishikant Dubey, during the debate on the national song’s 150th anniversary on Tuesday is noteworthy.
Mr Dubey addressed the Lok Sabha, raising concerns over demographic changes in Jharkhand's Santhal Pargana region.
Citing Census data, Dubey claimed the tribal population in the area dropped from 45% in 1951 to 28% in 2011, while the Muslim population increased from 9% to 24%.
Mr. Dubey also made references of West Bengal's population figures and noted that delimitation of Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies was frozen, not held in Jharkhand to protect tribal seats.
The MP highlighted the issue of infiltration and its impact on the region's demographics.
